Creatives4Change is Alexi’s initiative to make the fashion and entertainment industry a little more compassionate, ethical and moral by asking creatives to say no to using fur, feathers and exotic skins in their projects and jobs. We have the power to change the industry for the better, so let’s start now.

The Creatives for Change Manifesto:

We creatives, are blessed to be able to pursue our passions as a full time career, in which we get to create aspirational imagery every day.

The images, the clothes and the cosmetics that are featured provide inspiration for millions of people around the world, who find joy and self-empowerment through the buying of these goods.  It is a way to express who they are as people, their achievements and their personal style.

This blessing of a job is something that we do not take lightly, and we believe that with this great blessing, comes a greater responsibility, for us all to make this industry the best version of itself that it can be.

With our massive creative power to inspire, needs to come a conscience to inspire people in the right way.  We believe that we should lead by example and use our power of “choice” to leave this industry in a far better place than it was, when we entered it.  We want to look back, at the end of our careers, and say that we made the right choices when they mattered and that we stood on the right side of the fence concerning the important issues of today.

The simple fact is, that this job and the enjoyment that comes with it, should not come at the expense of others; whether it is people, animals or the environment.

We are no longer able to hide behind the glossy pages of a monthly magazine the way we used to before the digital revolution.  The world is watching us every second on social media and we cannot afford to make rash mistakes by ignoring issues that we know to be important, whether it is to do with the diversity issue, working with people with a history of abuse or flagrantly disregarding sustainable methods of producing fashion.

Our industry is meant to be at the forefront of what is coming and where we should be headed, in terms of fashion and lifestyle.  But times are changing fast, and if we, as an industry, do not address these important issues soon, we will seem very out of touch, very quickly.

On the flip side, we are fortunate to be working at a very exciting time, full of opportunity.  It is a new era, where many voices from my generation and the next, are beginning to stand up and be counted.  All conversations are on the table and the ground is fertile for real change.  We just have to all take the required steps.

“It is not about being ashamed of the choices we once made, but instead, being proud

of what we will become tomorrow.”
